Name pen holder maker for 3D printing
Type a name and Volucore stands its letters up as a pen holder: a plate of lettering in front, a base behind it that follows the outline of the letters, and pen holes cut into the top. Pick one of 66 fonts, 28 of them illustrated with painted artwork, set the spacing, length and letter height, and choose a color for the base and for the letters (and for each layer of the artwork). The 3MF opens in your slicer with every part already on its own filament.

Questions
How many pens does it hold?
There is one pen pocket for about every 28 mm of name length, with a smaller hexagonal hole between neighboring pockets. A longer name or a wider letter spacing gives more holes, and the readout under the preview counts them.
Does it need supports?
No. The base follows the lower edge of the letters, so every part of every letter has material under it, and the holder prints standing up exactly as it appears.
How big is it?
At the default setting the letters are about 47.5 mm tall and the holder is 38.75 mm deep. Letter height can be changed from smaller to about 46% taller, and a maximum length from 50 to 400 mm shrinks a long name to fit your print bed.
How does multicolor printing work?
The base and the letters are separate parts in the 3MF, each on the filament of its color; an illustrated font adds one more part for every layer of its artwork. Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Cura read the colors from the file. PrusaSlicer takes no colors from a file, so it has its own 3MF where you set the filament colors in the slicer. Give two layers the same color and they share one filament.
What are the illustrated fonts?
Painted letters made from SVG artwork (animals, skulls, princesses, dinosaurs and more), the same fonts as in Keychain and Name Sign. The artwork is inlaid in the front 0.8 mm of every letter, one colored part per paint layer, and you can recolor each layer. The sides and back of each letter follow the line art by default (so the outline and the sides print from one filament), or any other layer you choose. Most have the letters A–Z only; the picker marks them, and the tool tells you if a name uses a character the font does not have.
Can I use lowercase letters or other alphabets?
Names use the capitals A–Z and the numbers 0–9, and are always printed in capitals, because the base is built from the letter outlines. The fonts are chosen for a solid, printable result.
Can I sell what I print?
It depends on your plan. The Terms page explains what your account includes for selling printed items.
